Welcome to today’s edition of NFTs with TPan, sponsored by Coin.comLedgerFTXBaseBinanceTokenCryptoChain!
In all seriousness, is anyone else noticing the influx of Crypto industry advertising and sponsorship in our everyday lives? Some of it is big brand marketing, some of it has gone viral, and some of it is for the culture.
Whether you care about it or not, crypto advertising is everywhere.
Example 1: Crypto.com Arena
In November 2021 it was announced that the iconic Staples Center in LA (home of the Lakers, Clippers, Kings, and Sparks) would be renamed to Crypto.com Arena. The deal was reported to be worth $700 million for a 20 year agreement. If that’s not conviction, I don’t know what is.
Was there a lot of hate? Sure.
O’Shea Jack(Nichol)son @OsheaJacksonJr
Our battles were at Staples. Not Crypto Arena! 🏀😳🤨
Wanna guess how you will be paying for your Lakers tickets in 10 years? Oh maybe with…whaddaya know, crypto! Or maybe through, I dunno…your Crypto.com credit card because you get extra rewards using it at Crypto.com arena?
I will say this time and time again, it’s not about you. It’s about your kids and future generations. They will view Crypto.com arena as the new Staples Center. In fact, they won’t even know it used to be called Staples Center. Where’s your nearest Staples anyway?
Example 2: Speaking of the NBA..
Anyone else notice that Coinbase has been dominating advertising in basketball?

So, what’s going on here?
The NBA announced a partnership with Coinbase at the start of the 2021 season “marking the first cryptocurrency platform partnership for each league, will consist of unique content, innovations, activations and experiences from Coinbase to educate fans on the increasing advancements happening across the cryptoeconomy. Beginning with tonight’s tip off of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary season, Coinbase will have a brand presence featured during nationally televised games.”
This isn’t just the NBA. This is also with the WNBA, G League (minor leagues), NBA 2K League (Esports), and USA Basketball (for international games). Wowza.
Example 3: FTX and the…you guessed it! The NBA :)
Not to be outdone, FTX has been making moves with the NBA as well.
Ah good ‘ol FTX Arena in Miami, renamed in June 2021! $90 million for 19 years? Sounds like a steal compared to the Crypto.com deal, albeit a less eyeballs vs. LA.
FTX isn’t done yet, they’re going to the capital!
What a great way to get cozy with some influential people 🤔
But wait, there’s more! They’re partnering with the Warriors too.
So while Coinbase has secured a partnership with the NBA at the league level, FTX is securing partnerships at the team level. No right or wrong about that, there’s plenty to go around when it comes to being creative with getting more eyeballs and advertising revenue in.
Example 4: It’s not just limited to the NBA
College sports, Soccer internationally and domestically, baseball (umpires?! lol)
And if you’re a newly inducted F1 fan like myself thanks to Drive to Survive, Crypto is here as well.
Example 5: Pop Culture
Ah music, the great influencer. 2 popular rappers keep it short and sweet with the title of their new single. As a bonus, throw in a couple of Apes for the cover art.
What’s this little contraption in this music video by YG another famous rapper? Oh it’s a Ledger, a hardware wallet which securely stores your crypto assets.

Speaking of Ledger, look at Gunna lookin’ fly at the Met Gala yesterday evening! Wait a sec, what’s that on his neck?

And last but not least, my parents texted me yesterday night about a new show they’ve been watching, American Song Contest.
No Mom, I will not print my monkey 😂
This is just the beginning folks, strap in!
